Recent Statistics Canada data has revealed some interesting facts about the drinking habits of Canadians.
It turns out that Canadians who consume alcohol tend to buy beer, wine or hard liquor. Also, we bought more booze last year than we did the year before. And beer stills seem to be what we buy most, although not by quite as much as we used to.
Isn’t it great to have a federal agency that lets us know that we’re not drinking lighter fluid or nail polish remover to get a buzz (not enough of to register, anyway)? Or that our buying habits changed a bit, but not that much.
Satisfied taxpayer, signing off.

Social networking nerds were all a twitter when a micro brew called Spring Tweet was announced earlier this week. The beer, of course is named after Twitter posts that have been killing your productivity and boring your friends across North America for the past three years. Up until recently anyway. Now it seems you’re more likely to see the Fail Whale page that appears when logging in because the social network is over-capacity.
And even though we probably have John Mayer and Ashton Kutcher to thank for all the system overloads, I still hope the beer works better than the service. It would suck if it got you drunk sometimes and other times not. But you still get a hangover either way. And when you wake up, it starts telling what it ate for breakfast and what kind of a day it’s having at work. It’s like, enough already beer, you were fun at first, but now you’re annoying me. Go make me a sandwich.
Personally, I would have brewed one called Fail Whale Pale Ale. It would be strong, effervescent and it would block your ass as soon as I had enough of you. Good beer.

If you’re going to throw anything at the cops, you better be ready for them to bring the pain. But why would you throw your beer at them?!
Homeboy could have easily avoided the corrective shock if he had just finished his beer and become less “agitated.” Beer&news gets agitated just about every day, and I guess the only thing keeping us from getting tasered more often is the de-agitating effects of our favorite cold beverage.
Food for thought.

There will be no joy in Blue Jays-ville tonight as Toronto fans will forced to sit through the game without any beer. Citing numerous booze infractions in Rogers Centre, the government revoked the stadiums liquor license for a few games, thus separating the sport from one of the only things that makes it interesting.
Kidding of course, but beer and baseball go together like Jose Canseco and steroids, so this is a tough hit for the Jays on their second game of the season.
Beer&news used to be based in Toronto and remembers many hazy afternoons in the cheap seats paying $48.75 for a six-pack of stadium pints. Hope to make it back someday, provided the taps are flowing again.

I’ve been enjoying this sassy import for a couple of years now. Don’t let the weird bottle fool you. It might look like it’s showing up to the prom in a tuxedo t-shirt, but it’s taste is legit. It’s fresh off the top with a strong, but not over-powering hopsy finish. Not very carbonated, but then more Brit beers aren’t.
The dog’s bullocks about this beefeater is it’s an organic brew, which means the ingredients haven’t been treated or frankensteined. I’m no scientificator, but I do know that when you wake from a night of pounding these, your hangover is as inconsequential as Baby Spice’s solo career.
At $6 a bottle, St. Peter’s is a little pricey, but you’ll save on extra strength Advil in the long run.
Jolly good show.

That’s right beer fans. Bud Light’s reign as the world’s best-selling beer has come to an end thanks to China’s own Snow beer. Apparently it’s owned by SABMiller, but I doubt you’ll ever find it outside of the People’s Republic.
Still, beerandnews says hats off to the little brew that could.
